*Team*
LumApps is building an AI-powered Employee Hub, bringing together collaboration, communication, workplace experience and operational execution into a single extensible platform. At the heart of this mission is automation - and that's exactly what the Action Team owns.
The Action Team is responsible for Forms, Tasks, and Workflows - the building blocks that let organizations digitize processes, route work to the right people, and automate how things get done. These capabilities are deeply integrated across the whole LumApps platform, making Action a cornerstone of automation company-wide, not a domain limited to any one type of user or workforce. This is a high-impact, high-visibility area: it sits directly in the hands of the people actually doing the work, across every customer organization.
We are looking for an Engineering Manager – Action Team to lead this team and help shape how automation evolves across the entire platform.
*Missions*
The mission of the Engineering Manager – Action Team is to lead, grow, and empower a high-performing engineering team while co-owning the technical and product vision of Forms, Tasks, and Workflows as the platform's cornerstone for automation.
This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering, product strategy, and people leadership, ensuring the team keeps building reliable, scalable, and increasingly intelligent tools that customers depend on to run their day-to-day operations.
An outstanding performer in this role will:
Establish Forms, Tasks, and Workflows as reliable, scalable building blocks adopted across a wide range of processes, use cases, and customer organizations platform-wide.
Ensure permission and access-control capabilities - across Forms, Tasks, and Workflows alike - scale safely and confidently as adoption grows across a broader range of users.
Build and sustain a high-performing team with strong ownership, engagement, and growth - continuing a strong existing team culture rather than building one from scratch.
Drive clear technical and architectural direction aligned with product strategy and long-term platform vision.
Improve delivery predictability and technical quality while maintaining product velocity.
Strengthen cross-team collaboration across the organization, so Action's work extends the wider platform.
Drive real AI adoption on two fronts: within the team's own engineering practices, and in the product itself - building AI-powered capabilities that lower the barrier for non-technical users to create their own automations.
Deepen integration of Forms, Tasks, and Workflows into the broader LumApps platform, actively connecting them with the existing and growing stack of products rather than treating Action as a standalone domain.
People Leadership
Directly manage and support a team of engineers.
Create an environment of trust, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Run performance cycles, feedback, and individual development plans.
Coach engineers on both technical growth and impact-oriented thinking.
Technical & Platform Leadership
Own the technical vision and architecture of the Forms/Tasks/Workflows platform.
Ensure the platform is secure, scalable, observable, and maintainable.
Guide technical decision-making while remaining hands-on enough to deep dive when needed.
Balance short-term delivery with long-term platform sustainability.
Product & Strategy Collaboration
Co-drive the Forms/Tasks/Workflows vision in close partnership with Product and PX.
Translate product strategy into a clear technical roadmap.
Act as a thought partner on how workflow automation and AI capabilities evolve together.
Align priorities across multiple stakeholders and dependent teams.
Think beyond Action's own scope - actively identify and pursue opportunities to connect Forms/Tasks/Workflows with other products in the platform as it grows.
Delivery & Execution
Ensure high-quality delivery of features and platform capabilities.
Continuously improve engineering processes, delivery flow, and operational excellence.
Anticipate risks and dependencies, proactively addressing them.
Cross-Organization Impact
Serve as a reference point for operational workflow automation across the company.
Collaborate with other engineering teams and platform initiatives to ensure coherence.
Support adoption of Forms, Tasks, and Workflows capabilities by internal teams and partners.
AI Adoption & Innovation
Champion the practical adoption of AI tools and agents within the team's own engineering workflow - development, testing, and design.
Identify where AI can lower the technical entry point for end users, so that non-technical users can create their own automations more easily (e.g., natural-language-driven workflow, form, or task creation).
Balance AI-driven productivity gains with the team's technical and quality standards - accelerate the team without replacing sound engineering judgment.
*Skills*
6+ years of experience in software engineering.
Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or similar leadership role.
Experience leading platform, product, or operations/automation-focused teams.
Technical Breadth
Strong understanding of modern software architecture and distributed systems.
Ability to reason about APIs, platforms, developer experience, and scalability.
Comfortable engaging deeply in technical discussions without being a full-time IC.
Leadership & Collaboration
Strong people management skills with a coaching mindset.
Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience working closely with Product Managers and Designers.
Ability to influence beyond direct authority.
Leads with a servant-leadership mindset - removes blockers, trusts and empowers the team to make good decisions, and measures success by team outcomes rather than personal authority.
Comfortable with agile ways of working - adapts process to what the team actually needs rather than enforcing ceremony for its own sake.
Mindset
Strong product orientation, with a deep understanding of our end-users and how they actually work.
Curious about AI-powered systems and eager to shape their practical adoption.
Pragmatic - favors practical, incremental progress over perfect solutions, and knows when "good enough" is the right call.
Comfortable operating in a changing, post-merger environment.
How We Build & Why This Role Is Exciting
We operate in an AI-augmented engineering environment: engineers have access to best-in-class coding assistants and AI agents to support development, testing, and design.
Forms, Tasks, and Workflows sit at the center of automation across the whole platform, combining platform engineering with direct, tangible impact on how every customer organization gets work done.
You will help define how we build software at scale, including engineering standards, platform principles, and the responsible use of AI in product and engineering.
This is a high-leverage platform role: your decisions enable other teams, partners, and customers to build faster and smarter.
We value builders, leaders who enjoy shaping systems, empowering teams, and continuously improving how things work.
Bonus Points
Experience with Business Process Engine (BPE)/workflow/automation engines or permission and access-control systems.
Exposure to AI-enabled workflows or agent-based systems.
Experience in SaaS environments with large-scale deployments.
Previous work in multi-team or platform organizations.
Location & Ways of Working
Based in Kraków, Poland.
Hybrid setup.
Occasional travel, mainly to Zurich, Lyon, Paris, and other company offices, to collaborate with distributed teams.
Tech Stack
We intentionally keep the stack flexible. Today, the platform operates in a modern SaaS, cloud-based environment, with:
Backend services and APIs supporting workflow, forms, and task-management use cases
Web frontends for configuration and administration
Event-driven and integration-friendly architectures
Strong focus on scalability, observability, and security
You are not expected to be an expert in every technology, but you should be comfortable reasoning about architectures, trade-offs, and developer experience at platform scale.
